PORON® Cellular Urethanes Products

Energy Management Solutions

The outstanding shock absorption qualities of PORON cellular urethanes help LCD components in handheld devices survive energy impact during drop testing.  For automotive applications, the materials offer design solutions for combating the effect of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).  PORON grades 4701-30, 4701-40, 4701-50, 4701-60 and 4790-92 are ideal solutions for enclosure gasketing applications.  For further information for energy management, refer to our
Shock Control Design Guide.

Gasketing Solutions

PORON® urethanes: flexible, high density, microcellular products, offer design engineers many outstanding features.  PORON products maintain excellent resistance to compression set, exhibit high resiliency, good vibrator damping and impact absorption.  Parts made form PORON urethanes continue to perform after constant and repeated deflection.  Components won't loosen, and gasketing integrity is maintained.

Underwriters Laboratory has recognized PORON cellular urethanes materials as acceptable gasketing for electrical enclosures.  These foam products carry UL recognition, JMST2, for use as a gasket material in complete equipment.  The recognition meets the gasketing requirements of safety standards UL50 and UL508.  PORON 4701-30, 4701-40 and 4701-50 grades are ideal solutions for enclosure gasketing applications (see UL material links below).  For further information on working with PORON materials for gasketing solutions, refer to our Sealing and Gasketing Design Guide.

  • Soft Seal - Designed for superior sealing at 6 pounds per cubic foot, this material is the lowest density offering in the PORON urethane product line.

  • 4790-92 - Extra soft, slow rebound with the lowest closure force.  Standard available thickness range from 0.021" to 0.500" (0.53 mm to 12.7 mm).

  • 4701-30 - Very soft, easily compressed for use where flexibility is a key requirement.  Standard available  thickness range from 0.021" to .500" (0.53 mm to 12.7 mm).

  • 4701-40 - Soft material for a wide variety of applications.  Standard available thickness range from 0.031" to 0.500" (0.79 mm to 12.7 mm).

  • 4701-41- Soft, enhanced sealability material offering greater closed-cell content for demanding vacuum sealing applications or low closure-force requirements.  Standard available thickness range from 0.031" to 0.500" (0.79 mm to 12.7 mm).

  • 4701-50 - Firm material used for managing high energy impact with gasketing needs.  Standard available thickness range from 0.012" to 0.500" (0.30 mm to 12.7 mm).

  • 4701-60 - Very firm material used for energy management solutions for enclosure gasketing applications.  Standard available thickness range from 0.021" to 0.500" (0.53 mm to 12.7 mm)
