| A history of PORON Urethanes | |
|
Rogers Corporation has been producing various types of PORON breathable
polymeric materials since the 1950's, and the core urethane materials since the 1970's. PORON
Urethane materials have become the materials of choice in many medium/high
performance sealing and shock absorption applications. |
At the beginning of 1997, Rogers Corporation acquired BISCO® from Dow Corning. This acquisition gave Rogers a leading position in high performance silicone materials, both foams and solids. This positions Rogers as the one source for high performance elastomeric foam needs. |
| What are PORON
Industrial materials?
PORON cellular urethane is a Rogers Corporation trade name for a family of open celled microcellular polyurethanes. These high density, flexible cellular products are manufactured by continuously casting and curing mechanically frothed urethane intermediates to the desired thickness. By controlling chemistry and density, the properties of PORON materials can be widely varied. |

R/bak Cushion Mounting Materials: R/bak Cushion Mounting Materials are advanced, open cell urethanes that provide the most consistent, resilient cushioning for flexographic printing. R/bak materials reduce pressure and absorb shock for flexographic printing plates, resulting in longer plate and cushion life and higher print quality. |
PORON Footwear Materials: PORON® Performance Urethane materials, which are open cell, offer unique characteristics making them the ideal material selection for a variety of shoe applications. These applications include insoles, tongue padding, collar cushions, ankle pads, cushion counters and rugged, shock absorbing footpads. These materials offer exceptional energy absorption, dimensional stability, and breath ability while providing superior comfort for the life of the shoe. |

PORON Healthcare Materials are engineered, high density, microcellular urethane foam materials designed for use in orthotic and prosthetic applications. They have passed the Schwartz and Peck human patch test, and are thus suitable for direct skin contact. These materials have been approved to carry the American Podiatric Medical Association seal of approval. PORON medical® materials meet USP Class VI for plastics. |
